Roisin O’Bentley

HCPC, CSP, SCMT Dip,

Róisín’s first steps into her physiotherapy career were actually as a massage therapist! She trained with the Sheffield Centre for Massage Training  over a decade ago and developed a deep understanding about the power of touch – both to aid relaxation and to soothe pain.

Róisín soon wanted to offer more than the gift of massage to her clients and trained firstly as a Manual Lymphatic Drainage therapist and then as a physiotherapist, graduating in 2017 from Sheffield Hallam University with a First-Class degree. She joined the NHS and quickly found her passion for pelvic health – helping women to move without the fear of leaks or pain holding them back is incredibly rewarding. This passion and a firm belief in the transformative power of physiotherapy led her to found Thrive.

Róisín is particularly impassioned about destigmatising, de-shaming and celebrating all things pelvic health! So many aches and pains, leaks or prolapse symptoms go untreated due to women feeling ashamed or embarrassed about them or believing that it is a ‘normal’ part of being a woman. This is simply not true! They are common but certainly NOT normal and can be treated with physiotherapy.

Róisín has a unique approach to treating clients thanks to her massage background. Using a mixture of hands-on therapy and exercise, Róisín can help you reduce your pain and provide you with a tailored therapy plan which addresses your needs and helps you to move fearlessly once more. Everyone has the power to move pain free, and physiotherapy is the key to regaining or improving movement.

To help empower women, Róisín has also created the Pelvic Power community and holds regular coffee mornings to discuss all things pelvic health. If you would like to get involved, join the Pelvic Power Facebook group, the Therapy Room mailing list or the Thrive mailing list at www.thrive-physiotherapy.co.uk to find out about any upcoming events.

Róisín works across 2 sites at present: Tuesdays at 4 Priory Avenue, and Wednesdays at 416b Sharrow Vale Road. When booking online please ensure you select the appointment at the correct location.
