With Karen Davies completing a Deep Tissue Massage training in October, all massage therapists at Therapy Room Sheffield are now deep tissue trained. Deep Tissue Massage is slow and done with little or no lubrication. It engages the fascia (connective tissue under the skin and around muscles and other structures) and aims at lengthening shortened tissues. It tends to be more intense than therapeutic massage, however clients do report that it is not only effective in tackling soft-tissue related niggles and chronic muscular tension, but also brings about deep relaxation. Our therapists do often combine this work with trigger point release and advice for self-massage and stretching for longer term results.
